Condensation & Climate Control

Natural ventilation has been virtually eliminated by modern materials and construction methods. The downside is that this leads to condensation whereby water vapour, caused by normal day-to-day living, is trapped in a poorly ventilated dwelling. The warmer the air internally, then the more susceptible a property is to condensation.

When warm air comes into contact with a cool surface such as windows, the air naturally cools and is unable to absorb as much condensation. The greater the temperature difference between the air and the surface, then the more condensation will be produced.

Condensation can cause expensive damage to a property rotting window and door frames, staining fittings and rotting fabrics, rugs and carpets. Condensation can also spoil external views as it causes steam which mist-up windows.

When choosing your conservatory, always ensure that you select an approved Ultraframe Installer who will always use materials proven to minimise the affects of condensation. The benefits of employing an Ultraframe Installer include:

  1. You will receive the best advice regarding the climate control of your conservatory.
  2. Your installation will feature the most appropriate ventilation system for both the style and position of your chosen conservatory.
  3. Your Ultraframe Installer will always take into consideration both the aspect of your conservatory and bear in mind overshadowing from nearby walls, trees and even hills.
  4. Ultraframe Installers are always aware of the latest ventilation solutions and how these can minimise condensation.
  5. These include Ultraframe’s patented Ridgeflow ventilation unit and Trickle Ventilation system both designed to keep condensation to a minimum.
  6. All Ultraframe roofs are approved by the British Board of Agrement who recommend that at least 15% of the conservatories floor space is dedicated to opening vents (including doors and opening windows).
